Mr Bean actor, Rowan Atkinson, has revealed his recent dramatic sports car accident in which he sustained a broken shoulder, has done nothing to dampen his love of fast cars.

The 56-year-old Johnny English star lost control of his McLaren F1 supercar in August while driving through Cambridgeshire causing the sports car to spin out of control and into a tree. Atkinson was taken to hospital and was found to have fractured his shoulder.

Speaking in a recent interview with the BBC’s Newsbeat programme, Atkinson described the car accident as a “misjudgement”, adding that the collision had taught him a valuable lesson about understanding the limitations of his car, and himself as a driver.

While the comedian and funnyman is well on the road to recovery with this fractured shoulder almost completely healed, the actor admitted his rare sports car will take longer than him to mend.

The McLaren F1 sports car is still undergoing repair work by specialist mechanics, but once the vehicle is back to normal, the Mr Bean star will waste no time in getting back behind the wheel and out onto the open road again.

The luxury sports car Rowan Atkinson was driving when he had his accident is an extremely rare model, and one of only 65 McLaren F1 supercars of its kind made between 1993-1998, boasting a top speed of 240mph and a price tag in the region of £200,000 when purchased from new.
