Lindsay Lohan sued for hitting nanny with a Maserati sports car

While Lindsay Lohan may have been hoping for a trouble-free start to 2012, the actress has found herself in the middle of yet another legal drama after a nanny filed court papers this week to sue the 25-year-old after she alleged she was hit by the blonde actress and model who was driving a Maserati sports car.

Nubia Del Carmen Preza who was working as a nanny in September 2010, claims she was crossing an intersection in West Hollywood while pushing a pram when the actress struck her in her hired Maserati, causing the buggy to fly into the air.

While no injuries were reported to the child in the pram, Preza is claiming for “serious personal injuries, pain, suffering and anguish” in addition, the nanny is also suing Lindsay Lohan for past and future medical costs and loss of wages and future earnings due to her inability to carry out her usual job due to the accident.

The Black and White Car Rental company who own the Maserati Granturism which was allegedly involved in the collision, confirmed that Lindsay Lohan had hired the luxury sports car at the time the accident is reported to have taken place.

The nanny is suing both Lindsay Lohan and the sports car hire company for an undisclosed amount following legal papers filed this week, despite the fact the incident allegedly occurred 17 months ago.

As yet, there’s been no word from Lindsay Lohan or her legal team with regard to the recent lawsuit.

Video shows moment £100k Lamborghini crashed in high speed street race

The moment a £100k Lamborghini supercar smashes into a motorway barrier, narrowly avoiding hitting other road users, has been captured on video by another driver who witnessed the high speed, and highly dangerous, street race first hand.

The video footage shows four drivers in powerful sports cars, including a number of Lamborghinis, swerving in and out of the traffic on a public highway in Northern Taiwan. However the driver of a lime green Lamborghini supercar gets into trouble when the car encounters a vehicle travelling at a much slower place. As the Lambo breaks heavily to avoid hitting the slow moving vehicle, the car spins 180 degrees, crashing into the central reservation as the driver loses control.

Miraculously, the other speeding sports cars and the other drivers on the road in Taiwan, manage to avoid the Lamborghini as it collided into the motorway barrier. While it’s believed no one was injured as a result of the street race crash, the state of the £100,000 Lamborghini was another matter entirely and it’s reported it’s likely the vehicle would have been written off as a result of the crash.

The driver filming the entire incident while travelling in the middle lane of the motorway narrowly misses hitting the crashed Lamborghini, which makes for a heart-stopping moment in the middle of the YouTube video.

While no one was injured as a result of the accident, the video certainly highlights the dangers of this type of immature street racing which often involves the wealthy owners of luxury sports cars, as appears to be the case in this footage.

The new look Porsche Boxster is given a sneak preview

The new look Porsche Boxster was given a sneak preview this week ahead of the sports car’s official unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show in March. After its debut at the motor show, Porsche say their new addition will go on sale in the UK on April 28th with the base model Boxster possessing a starting price of £37,589 and the Boxster S offered for sale with a base price of £45,384.

Porsche believe that their new and improved version of the mid engine roadster is more efficient, more agile and faster than its predecessor, although the biggest change in the new Boxster is in its styling. The design team headed up by Michael Mauer are credited with creating the new design of the Boxster with its longer wheelbase and wider tracks which makes for a more spacious interior.

The aluminium chassis on the new Boxster means the sports car is lighter than previous models which will enable the car to offer better fuel consumption and also increased power and speed on the road.

In terms of its performance on the road, the new Porsche Boxster boasts a 0-62mph speed of 5.7 seconds while the Boxster S improves on that with a 0-62mph rate of just 5.0 seconds.

Both the Porsche Boxster and the Boxster S will hit UK showrooms from the end of April.

Lamborghini sports car wrecked hours after being won in a competition

An American man was left devastated after he crashed his $300,000 Lamborghini sports car, just hours after he’d collected the vehicle after winning it in a competition. The bright green Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 roadster was one of only 4,099 ever and was offered as the top prize in the “Joe Schmo to Lambo” competition run by a local convenience store in Utah in conjunction with the charity, teamgive, to raise money for children with rare conditions.

After entering the content 18 months ago, the wait was finally over after the winner of the competition was finally announced, with David Dopp being picked as the winner and new owner of the luxury supercar.

However just 6 hours after collecting his prize on Saturday, the father-of-six was watching his dream car being loaded onto the back of a recovery struck after crashing the vehicle while giving his friends and family a spin.

The Lambo supercar which boasts a 6.2 Litre V12 engine and a top speed of 205mph proved more powerful than Mr Dopp’s usual ride, and the car left the road after the driver lost control of the car, smashing through a fence and landing in a field. Mr Dopp admitted to driving at approximately 40-50mph although he was in a 35mph limit zone. Police say the driver had not been drinking, but they believe that speed was factor in the crash.

Luckily the car has not been declared a write-off, however it will require extensive repair work. The Lamborghini is being transported to Las Vegas where it will undergo repair work, the bill for which is still to be calculated.

22-year-old pays extra £45k to skip the waiting list for the new Lamborghini Aventador

A wealthy Saudi Arabian man has forked out an extra £45,000 just to avoid an 18 month wait to take delivery of the very latest Lamborghini Aventador. The 22-year-old contacted a businessman over 4,000 miles away in Weston-super-Mare in the UK who specialises in sourcing the very latest models of supercars for wealthy clients who was able to track down the new Lambo for the impatient buyer.

Although the 22-year-old graduate had to pay an extra £45,000 on top of the actual price of the Lamborghini, bringing his final bill for the sports car to £290,000, Dhiaa al-Essa’s grandfather is estimated to be worth £1.5 billion and so the added cost to get the Aventador before anyone else wouldn’t have broken the bank.

Shaun Williams who runs, BestPriceCarBuyers.com, was the man responsible for tracking down the Lamborghini for 22-year-old Dhiaa. With over 20 years worth of experience in the car sales business, Mr Williams has a wealth of contacts in the luxury car sales industry and is able to track down the very latest models across a range of brands which is why his clients contact him ahead of their local dealerships to avoid any lengthy waiting lists.

Why the youngster was in such a hurry to get his hands on the new Lamborghini we’re not sure as his personal range of vehicles is estimated to be worth $12 million and includes some of the most prestigious cars in the world including the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, Rolls Royce Coupe and the Rolls Royce Phantom, the three other Lamborghini models, and six Ferraris, five Porsche sports cars and a Maybach, Audi R8, Lexus and numerous BMWs; we don’t know when he must get the time to drive them all?!

JLS show off their luxury cars at Radio 1 recording

They are fast becoming the biggest boy band in the UK and to prove their pop star credentials, the lads from JLS have some head turning cars worthy of their celebrity status.

All four of the boy band members drove themselves to the BBC Maida Vale Studios, each arriving behind the wheel of an impressive luxury car. Three out of the four boys which make up the group which found fame on the X Factor drove their beloved sports cars to the recording session, with Oritise Williams being the only one from JLS to drive a state of the art Mercedes Benz jeep.

The lads were photographed arriving at the studios to record a Live Lounge session for Radio 1 with an army of mostly female fans waiting to welcome them. When it comes to their cars, Jonathan Benjamin (JB) Gill and Marvin Humes share a similar taste with both of the boys arriving behind the wheel of a Mercedes Benz SLS AMG supercar which has a starting price of £157,000. The much sought after sports car features dramatic gull wing doors which open vertically with JB opting for a red version while Marvin arrived in a sleek black Merc.

Lead singer Aston Merrygold was the only one out of the JLS boys to not drive a Mercedes, instead the 23-year-old drove his white Audi R8 with personalised registration plate to the West London studios, however the singer was left red faced after eagle eyed photographers spotted that the tax disc on the £87,000 sports car had expired at the end of last month.

Is this the most expensive sports car crash ever?

A car accident in Japan on Sunday saw a fleet of gleaming Ferraris collide with a Lamborghini and three Mercedes Benz sports cars and two other vehicles is what many are describing as the most expensive car pileup in history.

Eight Ferraris were reported to have been involved in the smash that happened on the southern prefecture of Yamaguchi on Sunday morning. It’s thought the driver of one of the Ferraris tried to change lanes but ended up hitting the middle barrier, after which the other Ferraris piled into the sports car as it spun 180 degrees in the highway, causing the rest of the cars following to crash also.

It is believed the luxury cars were all being drive in convoy to Hiroshima by members of an automobile enthusiasts club. One eyewitness described the vehicles as travelling between 85-100mph.

10 people were reported to have sustained minor injuries as a result of the pileup, although no one was seriously hurt. The highway was closed for 6 hours after the crash as the emergency authorities attempted to clear the debris and luxury sports cars from the road.

It’s been estimated that the cost of the accident could run to £2.46 million with many of the Ferraris involved in the accident said to completely written off as a result of the smash.

McLaren’s new sports car manufacturing plant opened by PM

The new McLaren manufacturing plant in Surrey was opened this week by the Prime Minister, David Cameron, signalling good news for the manufacturing industry in the UK with the creation of 700 jobs which is likely to rise to 1,000 in the coming years.

The £50 million state of the art factory based on the outskirts of Woking, Surrey, will provide the platform for the Formula One car makers to start creating road cars on a large scale, putting them in direct competition with the likes of Lamborghini and Ferrari.

McLaren have already produced 100 of their MP4-12C sports car models which have a minimum starting price of £168,000 a piece. The initial run of 100 of the luxury MP4 sports cars have already been shipped to customers across the world, including Japan, America and Germany, although the plant has plans to produce 4,000 of these vehicle by 2015.

As well as setting themselves a high target of 4,000 MP4-12C sports cars to be produced in the next four years, McLaren also revealed that they hope to create a new model every year from the new Woking factory.

McLaren’s Chairman, Ron Dennis, revealed that Formula One will continue to play an important role in the existence of McLaren, although it will represent a smaller percentage of their overall business in years to come as the luxury car makers plans to concentrate its efforts in manufacturing road cars as well as racing vehicles.
