Though known for creating gas-guzzling, high-powered cars, Bentley is also a car manufacturer doing their bit for the planet.
According to a recent press release, the British carmakers will be welcoming 120,000 new workers into their headquarters in Crewe. These will however come in the shape of two beehives.
The hives will be situated at the edges of the site, helping them achieve their biodiversity plans for the next few years. Wanting to do their bit and position themselves as a responsible brand, the firm are embarking on a biodiversity initiative that is being credited by eco worries and industry figureheads alike.
Peter Bosch, Bentley’s manufacturing chief, said:
‘We already have the largest solar car port in the UK on our site – which means that all of our electricity use is now either solar or certified green – so we’ve also started to look at ways we can use our site to increase local biodiversity.
‘Bee populations are in decline in the UK, so installing two hives to help boost biodiversity is a great way to make use of the grassland at the edge of the site.
