Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a childhood favourite of many of ours, with the flying, sailing car unlocking our imaginations and kickstarting our love for innovative vehicles.
But, one man from High Wycombe has taken his love for the 60s film a little further, dedicating 6 years of his life to building a replica model of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
The 52 year old, who is a professional musician, wanted to purchase the original car when it was available in 2011. However, the vehicle was far too expensive. But, what the experience did was give him the inspiration to build his very one replica; a project that proved to be rather lucrative. Now, his replica is said to be worth a staggering £200,000.
Having to source special parts from all over the world, the process took a lot longer than once thought. This was mainly down to the car’s complex shape, boasting completely unconventional curves.
Rob, the mastermind behind the car, said: “I’ve been a life-long Chitty fan of the car, the movie and the musical- have always dreamed I’d own Chitty myself one day.
“It’s still my favourite film, I know the lyrics by heart and I adore the music.
