For McLaren the monstrosity is windscreen wipers. Building a system that will make wipers obsolete is a pretty groundbreaking function, changing the whole image of the car.

The system is projected to use high-frequency sound waves like those used to scan unborn children. These vibrations will hit the screen and bounce off rain, debris, and insects.

The feature seeks to not only improve visibility for the driver but rids of the need for a windscreen wiper motor, resulting in a cut in costs.

McLaren chief designer Frank Stephenson says, it’s an “electronic system that never fails” , leaving nothing attached to the windshield at all.

Although this feels unheard of it has been an incorporation into many military vehicles for years. This will however be the first introduction to the consumer car market.

This technology is very exciting yet we probably wont have access to it until 2015 at the earliest!
