Love him or hate him, President Vladimir Putin is a fascinating man. While not too focused on his political goings-on, we do try and stay abreast of his relationship with fine cars. Having recently received his presidential limo (one that sports its own toilet!), Vladimir possesses a passion for extravagant cars.
This week, the Russian President attended the wedding of Austrian Foreign Minister, Karin Kneissl, and Austrian businessman, Wolfgang Meilinger. Proud to be invited as a guest of honour, the President was however criticised for his attendance by other politicians. According to many, images of Putin playing with dogs and dancing with the bride at the intimate ceremony were ‘inappropriate’.
While the President’s speech will have been a highlight for many, for us, it was his reaction to the couple’s wedding car. According to sources, Vladimir Putin approached the car and whipped out his pen, writing his good wishes on the bonnet of the wedding car. Adorning the wedding car with white felt tip pen, we just hope that the car was not a rental!
While taking the limelight with his calligraphy skills, his entrance also hit the headlines. According to local media, Putin exited his presidential stretched limo with Cossack singers that he had booked to serenade the newlyweds. With a large bouquet of flowers to hand and a big smile on his face, who would have thought he had such a soft side?
Let us know what you think. Is Vladimir Putin arriving at a wedding in Austria undermining the West’s stance against Moscow or should politicians have autonomy over where they go, who they go with and what cars they want to write on? Share your comments and opinions by posting your thoughts below.
