Rolls Royce creates a custom-built Coupe for an anonymous millionaire

If we all had won the lottery or have an endless supply of money, there is no doubt that we would purchase a luxurious car to travel in whether it’s a Lamborghini or a fancy self-driving car such as the Tesla Model X P100D.

Most people dream of having a car from their favourite car manufacturer or creating their very own custom-built car with all the design and digital features they desire. However, this dream is a reality for an anonymous millionaire who collects bespoke machinery, who recently had his own custom-built coupe created by Rolls-Royce. The secret was revealed Rolls-Royce’s press release, announcing it took 4 years and $13 million to create.

The special car is known, as the ‘Sweptail’ due to the boat-tail design that is reminiscent of 1920’s Phantom Rolls-Royces such as the 1925 Phantom I. At the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on the 27th May, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ Chief Executive Officer Torsten Mullter-Otvos spoke of the car stating:

Sweptail is a truly magnificent car. It exudes the romance of travel for its own sake, and immediately places ‘Sweptail’ in the pantheon of the world’s great intercontinental tourers”.

Despite featuring design aspects from the 1920’s, the car includes impressive high-tech features with a panoramic glass roof, luxuriously lined interior with Macassar Ebony and Paldao wood. The middle console of the car welcomes a champagne chiller and two crystal flutes. Storage cases constructed from carbon fibre and finished with titanium and aluminium hardware are accessed on the side of the doors, holding the owner’s laptops, which are designed to match the custom luggage in the boot. Despite its large size, the car only has two seats with the back seats replaced with an expanse of wood. The owner could have his own car wardrobe, fit with luggage rails and a hat shelf.

Unfortunately this car is a one of a kind and will not be available for purchase but if you one-day win the lottery you might be able to own a beautiful car like the Sweptail. There is no denying that this car has revealed more of Rolls Royce’s design and construction skills, bute, will the option to create custom-built vehicles be more accessible in the future?
