Leicester City players change their gifted i8 colours from blue

When Leicester City won the Premier League the Foxes owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, bought 19 BMW i8s, costing him around £100,000 a piece. Adorned in the club’s iconic blue the convoy of cars marked everything the team was about; coming together and being united. However, today we have learnt that many of the players have has their car wrapped, stepping away from the united feel the club owner wanted to instil.

It has been reported that at least 7 players have ordered their vinyl wrapping , apparently due to frustration over never being able to tell their cars apart from teammates’.

Wanting to stand out

Former Premier League striker Marlon Harewood now owns the garage that is modifying these cars.

The former Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Aston Villa player said:

“The reason they have got them changed is because there were 19 cars all exactly the same. They wanted to personalise their own vehicle. I’ve heard rumours they couldn’t find their car in the car park but you don’t forget your own car.”

Clearly seeing the need to enjoy individuality the reaction from fans has been somewhat mixed, with some feeling their need for change to be a sign of disrespect.

Roy Foulkes on Facebook  wrote: “More money than sense. Keep the car blue donate the cost to the first football team you ever played.”

John Cooper said: “Probably that 15 identical cars in the car park was too confusing for them”.

Jane Smith commented: “Can I have a free one if I promise not to change the colour?”

Kim Stevenson said: “Butchers. Why were they blue ? Because that’s our clubs colours. Would have been better getting their own plates fitted at a fraction of the cost too.”

Let us know what you think, should the players have stuck with blue? Leave your comments below.
