Hot Jaguar XJR575 revealed as brand’s most powerful production saloon yet

Jaguar has unveiled its XJR575 as the most powerful version of its flagship saloon yet. This has been brought to light in a bid to keep pace with its rivals such as the Mercedes-AMG S63 and Audi S8.

First seen in last month’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the XJR575 uses the F-Type SVR’s 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine with 567bhp, 25bhp more than the outgoing XJR, and 516lb ft.

This enables a 0-62mph time of 4.4sec quicker than its predecessor, although 0.2 seconds slower than the S63. According to the company, the car’s top speed is 186mph.

This saloon comes as part of the updates across the XJ range which comes as a mid-life refresh before the release of the XJ in two years. That model is speculated to come as purely electric. If this rumour is true, then Jaguar would ultimately beat its rivals of having a battery-powered flagship saloon and target main markets like China.

Until then, the new XJR575 is available in standard wheelbase only, and has tailor-made exterior details which includes a rear spoiler, side sills, front bumper and lower air intakes with gloss back surrounds. The model features tread plates, which brands diamond quilted seating in as many as two colour options.

Across the whole range, the XJ gets full LED headlights and the named ‘J-blade signature’ daytime running lights as well as technology updates to bring the saloon in line with its broader range. These include the Touch Pro infotainment system which uses a 10.1in central touchscreen and 4G Wi-Fi connectivity. Additionally, its brand new safety systems include a, Drive Condition Monitor, Lane Keep Assist, and Autonomous Emergency Breaking.

This car is on sale from November, and the revised version will start from £59,995. This comes as a rise of just above £1,000 on the current model. Meanwhile, the XJR575 is set to cost £93,170, £500 more than the predecessor.
