Four-door cars that are faster than a Ferrari revealed

The atmosphere and competition of the best supercar is hotter than ever. Every single top car manufacturer has something brilliant in the pipe-line, all of which claim to be the fastest, quickest, and generally the best thing to grace the planet.

Yet, much to supercar manufacturers surprise, many have now been eclipsed in the performance area by comparatively normal motors. So, to see if this is true, we’ve picked a selection of very quick Ferraris and compared them to what deems to be a modern day/normal machine.

Ferrari 308

The 2-seater 308GTB that was released by Ferrari in 1975 was an absolute stunner. It was equipped with more than 252bhp 2.9-litre flat-plane crank V8 from the GT4, which gave it a 7-second 0-62mph time, which is enough to scare some V12 powered cars of the era.

The basic design of this motor lasted until 1989, despite it being revised in the early 80s.

BMW 320I

42 years is a very long time in the motoring world. In this particular case, it is long enough so that an entry level 3-Series can be compared to a Ferrari when it comes to straight-line performance. This motor powers to 62mph in just 7.2 seconds, which is still pretty impressive whilst offering up 49mpg.

Audi S4

The Audi S4 is in-between the RS models and the regular stuff. You would think that its 349bhp is no match to the F355, but thanks to its Quattro traction, the 0-62 times of the cars are very similar.

Additionally, the S4 can be purchased in the Avant spec too. Whilst the F355 pulls away at higher speeds, the damage to the ego has already been done.

Let us know what you think about these impressively fast models. Do you think we should have included any others?
