Top Tips for Planning a Wedding

The love of your life and person you wish to spend the rest of your days with got down on one knee and popped the question. You have a beautiful ring to mark the occasion, and you’ve spent weeks sipping prosecco with endless notifications on Facebook and texts to reply to, as everyone rejoices in your exciting news. The first few weeks have been a bubble of excitement and anticipation, but now as it starts to sink in that you are engaged to be wed, there’s one thing on your mind – you have to plan a wedding.

Planning a wedding will be the most exciting, lengthy, all-consuming and at times stressful thing that you ever have to do, culminating in what will undoubtedly be the best day of your life, as you’re joined in union with your soulmate. However, actually beginning to plan it is a whole different kettle of fish. Having been helping customers plan wedding transport for many years, we thought we would share a few planning tips we have picked up over the years.

  • Make a list of everything that you want to plan for your wedding
  • Using highlighters or coloured pens, organise your list in order of importance – this will give you a good idea on how and where to start your planning
  • Create a spreadsheet detailing all of your plans, including links to anything you’ve seen online that you like or any pictures that you want for inspiration. This will be your bible for the coming months, and gives you a good idea of where your planning is at, every step of the way
  • Download Pinterest and start creating lots of different boards. Pinterest is without a doubt the best location for wedding inspiration, with hundreds of thousands of different images in different categories for you to pore over
  • Outline your budget. It’s important to keep in mind what sort of money you’ll be looking to spend, this lets you budget accordingly for each of the things that you have to buy and whether or not you can splash out
  • If cash is tight or you’re looking to save pennies where possible – try and come up with ideas for how you can be thrifty and DIY. Do you know anyone who is good at DIY and could help you with a table plan? Is a friend of a friend an excellent baker to help you with the cake? There are a number of ways to cut the costs of your big day without compromising in the slightest!
