It seems that Lord Sugar’s famous catchphrase “you’re fired!” may have to be told to his unlucky chauffeur, who has put himself in line of fire after damaging the computer mogul’s £250,000 Rolls Royce on Wednesday.
The RR Ghost was only purchased earlier this year and is featured in the opening credits of the BBC 14th series of The Apprentice, with a very distinctive AMS 1 license plate.
Lord Sugar’s driver was seen to be inspecting the damage after he reversed into an Uber while trying to park in busy central London. The Roller was left damaged – with a nasty hole in its rear bumper and a dent in the front part of the hybrid engine.
A bystander who witnessed the scene said:
“It was only a minor bump really but it made on hell of a bang. The chauffeur looked a little worried as the two exchanged insurance details.
“Sir Alan wasn’t in the car, but had he been, his driver might well have been on the end of a pointy finger and a famous catchphrase!”
Sugar has a lifestyle of luxury cars and once owned a classic 1959 Bentley S1 Continental Sport Saloon after purchasing it from Sir Elton John, which went to auction for £500,000 late last year. Lord Sugar later admitted that he was overcharged for the Bentley, saying that he had been “done up like a kipper” by the famous musician.
After a car collector got in touch, Sugar bought back the first Rolls Royce he ever owned that was purchased in January 1982. Since then, he added a personalised registration and added it to his collection of luxury cars.
