Hundreds of fans travelled from all over Europe to the Grenoble University Hospital yesterday, illustrating their support for the critically injured Michael Schumacher. They came together to celebrate his 45^th birthday, clutching onto letters and banners progressing a united sympathy and support for the F1 driver’s family.

The message “45 Schumi stay strong! Keep fighting!” was projected onto the side of the hospital when night fell, a message that could be read from far and wide. The tributes and illustrations of goodwill have been greatly overwhelming for his family with constant letters, articles and broadcasts influencing hope and positive thought to aid recovery.

Fans held a silent vigil that really touched the hearts of his loved ones and supporters alike. His family released a series of messages filled with gratitude on his official website, thanking his supporters for their active attempts to keep spirits up for Michael.

“The incredible sympathies shown today by the Ferrari Fans outside the hospital has utterly overwhelmed us and moved us all to tears,”

“We are deeply grateful for it and also for all the heart-warming and heartfelt wishes for Michael to get well soon, which have reached us from all over the world.”

He remains in an artificially induced coma at the hospital where he was rushed to following a traumatic skiing accident that occurred last Sunday. The fall saw Schumacher occur a serious head injury in the Alpine Resort of Meribel.

As the five time holder of the world driver’s title he has generated a lot of love from the racing industry with team Ferrari especially making their supportive words heard.

A Ferrari statement read: “This is a special day for Ferrari and all its fans as it is Michael Schumacher’s birthday.

“At the moment, he is tackling the most important fight of his life and therefore we want to send him very special wishes.

“Everyone at Ferrari, from President Luca di Montezemolo and team principal Stefano Domenicali, who are in touch all the time with Michael’s family and those closest to him, are continuously watching how his situation evolves.

“Obviously, today there are double the reasons to wish him all the best. Forza Michael!”

Although at first we all thought the worst his condition seems to be stable with medical officials and reporters putting great emphasis on his state remaining the same rather than escalating.

“We understand that the situation is essentially the same as it has been in the last couple of days so we are now looking at 80 plus hours of Michael Schumacher in a stable condition and although he hasn’t improved, that is a platform at least for his doctors to continue to treat him,” reported Sky Sports News’ Craig Slater.
