You can now buy a Rolls Royce with Bitcoin

Last year, the world became slightly obsessed with Bitcoin; the cryptocurrency that proved to be a lucrative trading investment for many. However, Bitcoin has yet to be fully rolled out, with some critics still discrediting its worthiness as a fully-fledged currency.

Wanting to fly the flag for Bitcoin, one car dealership has announced that they will be taking payments for Rolls Royces with Bitcoin. Being the first business of its kind to do so, could Post Oak Motors encourage other sellers to following in their footsteps?

“The rising of Bitcoin sparked my interest,” Tilman Fertitta, owner of Houston-based Post Oak Motors, said.

“Being a premier luxury car dealer, I always want to offer my customers the very best buying experience and this partnership will allow anyone around the world to purchase our vehicles faster and easier.”

Processing payment through BitPay; the dealership has integrated this crypto payment service provider into its processes; a huge investment that many people believe will not pay off.

At present, one Bitcoin stands for $8,250. With most Rolls Royce Ghosts, Dawns and Phantoms being priced at half a million; you would need around 56 Bitcoins to settle your Rolls Royce bill.

Bitcoin’s critics

Just 12 months ago, billionaire mogul, Fertitta, had some few sharp words to had a few sharp words to say about Bitcoin. He said that people were “never going to buy [Bitcoin],” since “it’s not insured by the FDIC [Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation].”

However, in the car manufacturing world, many are still confident in the cryptocurrency. As recent as this year, Ford filed for a parent to for a piece of technology that would permit Fords to communicate with one another, exchanging Bitcoins from car to car.
