The Mini is Named Britain’s Favourite Car of All Time

The Mini is undoubtedly an iconic car, a cultural symbol that the world recognises as British.

Owned by countless celebrities and appearing in films such as James Bond’ Sykfall, the car seems to speak to all ages and classes, owning the hearts of the drivers of Britain.

It has been announced that in addition to having an affiliation with the car we also illustrate a personal connection with it, naming it as our favourite car of all time.

In a poll taken by Autocar Magazine we have voted the Mini to number one spot on our list of beloved vehicles.

The mini beat the Mclaren that drove in a second place with the Jaguar E-type in third place and the Range Rover coming in at fourth.

The original mini seems to have grown in popularity over the years, showcasing a certain classiness that as Britons we connect with.

So, what is it about the Mini that has influenced a generation of attraction?

The model was designed by Sir Alec Issigonis and was an instant hit. Introduced in 1959 the car was at the forefront of the ‘Swinging Sixties’ movement.

Being a statement of freedom and British identity the car acted as a time capsule in which we all want a piece of.

With cars of that era taking a traditional and exclusive approach to car design the Mini arrived on the roads as the first ‘classless car’, a vehicle that people wanted to be seen in.

Cars are nonetheless about status, exhibiting your personality and wealth through your travel methods. With the 1960’s being a time synonymous with free spirits the Mini allowed those in need of a car a way of purchasing one that was devoid of showiness.
