As you know, at Cars for Stars we love nothing more than hearing of exciting new car concepts. This is why we were thrilled to learn that Bentley will be marking its 100th birthday with the launch of a zero emissions concept vehicle. 

Referred to as the EXP 100 GT, the designs are like nothing we have ever seen before, described by Bentley as a “transformative zero-emissions concept car”. 

With sleek lines, bursting with innovative technology and sporting a minimalist design, this concept ticks all the boxes! 

While giving little away about what the car will boast under the bonnet, Bentley connoisseurs predict the vehicle to be powered by batteries. But, as reported on previously by us at Cars for Stars, this is not the first concept car to come from the British carmakers.

Back in 2017, Bentley unveiled the EXP 12 Speed 6e, choosing to share details of the cocept at the famous Geneva Motor Show. Impressing car enthusiasts and environmentalists across the globe, its popularity no doubt influenced this latest project. 

This is not the only way the brand is celebrating a century in business either. According to sources, Bentley is working on the Bentayga Hybrid as well as V8 variations of the Continental GT coupe, Continental GT convertible and the Flying Spur sedan.

Just this week, we have seen the prototype of the world’s first solar powered car. Created by Dutch start-up, Lastyear, the car has been created directly to combat climate change.

Set to be on our roads by 2021, the vehicle can now be reserved by interested parties for £106,000, with its creators revealing that 100 units have already been purchased.

“Climate change is one of the biggest problems that we humans have faced in our history” the brand’s Chief Executive, Lex Hoefsloot, said.

“It is such a frightening development that it is almost paralysing. We decided to do the opposite; as engineers, we believed we could do something.

“Lightyear One represents a huge opportunity to change mobility for the better”.

While a venture that seems to be taking off rather well, the company now look to reduce the price tag of the car, entering the next development stage in a mission to be make sustainable travel more affordable.

When it comes to luxury cars, we all expect to pay through the nose for vehicles, with the saying ‘you get what you pay for’ never being so relevant.

This is why at Cars for Stars, we were rather confused to see a stunning Ferrari up for sale for just £200. That’s right; £200! As a car brand renowned for its colossal price tags, we understandably wanted to find out what the catch was.

Well, as it turns out, the Chinese police are currently in possession of the beautiful supercar, taking it into their depot after it was involved in a traffic accident.

Because the vehicle was uninsured, Chinese authorities dubbed it useless, saying it was only good for scrap metal. They also struggled to find any official information regarding the car, making it illegal to drive in the county.

The Ferrari 599 is however in full working order and actually worth £100,000 in today’s market. If sold for the guide price of £200, it will be the cheapest Ferrari in the world.

A spokesperson for the court said: “There is no information about this vehicle at the Vehicle Management Office, so it’s non-transferable and can’t be driven.

“That’s why it’s so cheap – we viewed it as scrap metal, and its scrap evaluation came to £276 (2,430 RMB). We then offered a 30 percent discount on that for our auction.”

Whoever does bag this amazing vehicle will be liable to pay £1,140 in unpaid parking fines; a small price to pay when looking at what it could potentially get on the re-sale market.

“Together, we have the opportunity to cater more effectively for customer needs by shortening development time and bringing vehicles and state-of-the-art technologies more rapidly to market.”

Nick Rogers, Jaguar Land Rover’s engineering director, said:

“We’ve proven we can build world-beating electric cars but now we need to scale the technology to support the next generation of Jaguar and Land Rover products.”

This is not however the first example of competitors joining forces. Volkswagen and Ford are currently making cars together while rumours continue to circulate over a Fiat and Renault business merge.
