Where at Cars for Stars we have for many years been about the gas-guzzling, monstrous chauffeur cars, we have over the past few years warmed to the idea of electric cars. This is because as electric engine technology has evolved, so has electric car exterior designs. Now, we are seeing some of the biggest car makers in the world launching electric versions of classic vehicles. These includes BMW, Audi, Land Rover and even Jaguar.
Now, it seems everyone is jumping on the electric car bandwagon, with many EU drivers wanting to do their bit for sustainability.
According to a recent press release, EU electric car sales are set to surpass the 1m mark next year. This is because car makers are set to be fined for not investing their time in reducing emissions, forcing many manufacturers to make the leap and go electric.
1m is however 4 times the number of electric cars sold last year, meaning we are expecting to see a huge shift in the industry that will change the transport landscape indefinitely.
Director of Transport and Environment, Julia Poliscanova, said:
“Thanks to the EU rules, carmakers are finally preparing to start selling the more fuel efficient and electric cars the climate emergency demands””.
“This means we are going to see good-quality, affordable electric vehicles in the next year or two.”
Many of the new electric models are expected to be showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show later on in the year. There, brands such as Volkswagen, Daimler and Honda will all unveil their latest workings.
Let us know what you think. Will you be investing in an electric car in the next coming year?
