Archie-Hamilton-of-Archie-Hamilton-RacingWhile Ferraris are regarded as the supercars of our generation it seems that they may have some new competition on their hands with the world’s first electric supercar well on its way to market. The Rimac Concept One has been very present in the press of late, promising to change the supercar market for the better. Boasting a strong structure and a streamlined design the car looks and feel the part, but how does it compare to the iconic LaFerrari?

Racing driver, Archie Hamilton, wanted to find the answer, choosing the critically-acclaimed  LaFerrari as his weapon. Having zero confidence in the electric car he was rather shocked by the outcome, with the new-age car pulling away with no effort whatsoever. Devoid of struggle the electric car gave the Ferrari a run for its money with the driver heard to be saying.

“That has destroyed me. It’s gone so much quicker than me.”

“Oh my God, I didn’t get a great launch but oh my God, that thing is rapid. What the f***.”

Offering impressive statistics of 0-62mph (0-100kmh) in 2.6 seconds, a top speed of 220mph (355kmh) and  1088 horsepower, we can now understand why the car hurled in front of Hamilton, built with that shock factor in mind.

Following the race the Ferrari driver seemed to be feeling the wrath of the adrenaline.

“This is the first electric supercar and it was taking on one of the fastest cars in the world.”

“I didn’t have a clue which car was going to win. I was genuinely shocked. I couldn’t believe it. You would always think a petrol car was going to beat an electric car.”
