The forthcoming Bentley Continental GT is set to have been completely re-engineered in order to appeal to buyers and generate the biggest sales for the brand as of yet.

Information with regards to its styling is set to be unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show this September.

However, the brand new coupe isn’t being based on the original Continental GT. This impressive model has been developed from the ground up alongside Porsche. It also shares its underpinnings with Panamera. Additionally, the GT will be made as an open-top GTC to incorporate with the high level of technology also offered by the model. Due to this, Bentley is already describing the vehicle as the most advanced motor to date.

In a statement, a senior official at Bentley said, “It is second to none in terms of the engineering,”

“We have been careful to safeguard the traditional qualities built up over the years while adding features that extend its capability to a whole new level.”

The model is also set to incorporate a wide range of powertrains. These include a new-petrol electric hybrid unit, which will enable the potential for zero-emissions driving.

Additionally, to the Continental GT coupe being introduced to showrooms in 2018, there will also be a convertible Continental GTC. This model is currently undergoing testing by Bentley engineers. Similarly to the GT, this will also feature a luxurious fabric roof.

In two years time, Bentley also want to introduce a successor to the Flying Spur on the same platform. This is set to include more wheelbase for interior space.

In previous statements, Bentley have stated that they hope for 15,000 sales per year. By the looks on the sales of the Bentayga and the new Continental, its highly unlikely that the brand won’t reach this target.
