The news is filled with things that we do not believe on the first read. This story definitely fits into that category whilst shocking the nation.

A teenager woke up her neighbourhood screaming after looking outside and discovering that her car had disappeared. However, her car was not stolen in the night, it had disappeared underground!

Her Mother commented:

“My daughter went to go and let her horses out because she was going off somewhere for the day,” Mrs Conran said.

“She got herself all ready, got to the door, and saw her car wasn’t there.

“She thought that was a bit weird … so she went round to the kitchen window and then she saw the crater and just started screaming.”

These mysterious occurrences were the work of a sinkhole that had emerged on the family drive, having shown no warning signs of its appearance.

The car flipped over and was facing in the opposite direction to which it was parked when it delved beneath the driveway.

“It’s on its side, it’s full of soil and (our daughter) certainly … wouldn’t have got out of it had she been in it, had she driven in and it had happened,” Mrs Conran said.

It can be put down to the heavy rain Britain has experienced. Sinkholes of this nature can occur when a layer of rock underneath the ground is dissolved by acidic water and can be prompted by heavy rain.
