Young driver who clipped Rolls Royce in China facing financial nightmare

A 21-year-old chef from China is facing potential financial ruin after he crashed into a parked Rolls Royce Phantom causing $158,000 worth of damage which the low earning chef is unable to pay for. The stunning white Rolls Royce Phantom was reportedly parked on the side of the road close to Lukou International Airport where it was used to chauffeur VIP visitors to and from the airport.

According to reports, the driver swerved slightly over the road while driving on the motorway, and clipped the front of the luxury car’s grill, smashing side of the bumper completely. The state of the art Rolls Royce, which is estimated to be worth $1.9 million, will now need extensive repairs costing in the region of $158,000 following the collision.

Because the 21-year-old driver admitted that he was to blame for the accident, his insurance will not pay out to cover the repair bill for the Rolls Royce. The young driver, who was travelling in the opposite direction to the parked Rolls Royce when he clipped the bonnet, telephoned his family as soon as the collision happened. However his family say they wouldn’t be able to cover the repair bill even if they sold everything they had, including their house.

Left with no other option, the driver is now planning to address the company owners of the Rolls Royce to plead his case and attempt to reach an agreement on how the repair bill will be met.

Rolls Royce smashes sales records in 2011

In the official figures Rolls Royce revealed they’d sold 3,538 luxury cars over the course of 2011 which is the most it’s ever sold in the space of 12 months in the company’s entire 107 year history.

Rolls Royce found that China overtook America as its biggest market in 2011. Since 2003, the US has been the biggest consumer of Rolls Royce cars, however the Asian and Pacific market grew by a massive 47% throughout the 12 months of 2011, helping China into the top spot as the biggest buyers of Rolls Royce products for the year.

The UK rolled into third place behind China and the States as the biggest market for Rolls Royce in 2011, with business in Britain rising by 30% throughout the year for the luxury car brand.

22-year-old pays extra £45k to skip the waiting list for the new Lamborghini Aventador

A wealthy Saudi Arabian man has forked out an extra £45,000 just to avoid an 18 month wait to take delivery of the very latest Lamborghini Aventador. The 22-year-old contacted a businessman over 4,000 miles away in Weston-super-Mare in the UK who specialises in sourcing the very latest models of supercars for wealthy clients who was able to track down the new Lambo for the impatient buyer.

Although the 22-year-old graduate had to pay an extra £45,000 on top of the actual price of the Lamborghini, bringing his final bill for the sports car to £290,000, Dhiaa al-Essa’s grandfather is estimated to be worth £1.5 billion and so the added cost to get the Aventador before anyone else wouldn’t have broken the bank.

Shaun Williams who runs,, was the man responsible for tracking down the Lamborghini for 22-year-old Dhiaa. With over 20 years worth of experience in the car sales business, Mr Williams has a wealth of contacts in the luxury car sales industry and is able to track down the very latest models across a range of brands which is why his clients contact him ahead of their local dealerships to avoid any lengthy waiting lists.

Why the youngster was in such a hurry to get his hands on the new Lamborghini we’re not sure as his personal range of vehicles is estimated to be worth $12 million and includes some of the most prestigious cars in the world including the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, Rolls Royce Coupe and the Rolls Royce Phantom, the three other Lamborghini models, and six Ferraris, five Porsche sports cars and a Maybach, Audi R8, Lexus and numerous BMWs; we don’t know when he must get the time to drive them all?!

Chauffeur lands TV role on BBC documentary

A retired policeman turned chauffeur has landed a TV role alongside Griff Rhys-Jones on a BBC documentary which will be hitting our screens next year. The former sergeant only left the police force in May of this year and had been chauffeuring a handful of clients when he heard about the opportunity to appear on the new television documentary.

Mr Taylor-Bard decided to take on some part time chauffeur work after retiring from his role with the police after 30 years service earlier this year. After signing up with The British Chauffeurs Guild and getting a number of jobs driving private clients, the Mr Taylor-Bard decided to put himself forward for the role of chauffeuring Griff Rhys-Jones for the new TV programme.

The BBC were looking for a chauffeur to drive the comedian in a classic Rolls Royce to re-trace the journey undertaken by Queen Elizabeth l in 1574. The role called for someone with chauffeur experience, who wouldn’t feel uncomfortable speaking on camera and bantering with Rhys-Jones.

After a meeting and an audition, the ex copper won the role, and filming began for the one-off documentary in July. The former sergeant described the whole process of making the programme as an eye opener as filming for the 59 minute show took a total of 10 days.

Luckily the chauffeur from Epsom got on well with his co-star, the Welsh presenter Griff Rhys-Jones, and so spending long hours together in the vintage Rolls Royce wasn’t too much of a chore.

The finished documentary will be screened in 2012 on the BBC.

Electric Rolls Royce limo to be unveiled at The Geneva Motor Show

After months of speculation, the waiting is over, as Rolls Royce has confirmed that they will debut their experimental limo at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

The Phantom Experimental Electric car, codenamed EXP 102, will make its first public appearance at the motor show, before being whisked off on a world tour taking in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

During its whistle-stop tour the electric limo will be given to Rolls Royce owners as well as media representatives who will test driver the vehicle. The luxury brand hopes to receive useful feedback from the planned test drives which will help to shape the finished product.

The electric Phantom is the first battery powered electric car designed for the ultra luxury market. The swanky limo can be recharged from a domestic mains electric power point, and produces zero emissions so it’s very environmentally friendly.

However all of this green power comes at a cost. While the fuel powered Phantom will set you back approximately £300,000 and achieves around 15 miles to the gallon, the experimental electric Phantom costs just 2p per mile to run, but its cost is likely to be closer to £1 million.

For the last 2 years there’s been mounting speculation that the luxury car maker was in the process of developing a secret electric limo.

Rolls Royce confirmed in a statement that the one-off electric limo will makes its debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1st.
