Rolls-Royce announces launch of Rolls-Royce Wraith

British luxury car maker Rolls-Royce has announced the addition of a brand new model to its fleet of envy-inspiring automobiles. The Rolls-Royce Wraith, touted to be “the most powerful Rolls-Royce”, will be revealed to the public at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show to be held in early March.

Details surrounding the Rolls-Royce Wraith are being aggressively protected but we can expect it to be a coupe version of the car maker’s prestigious Rolls-Royce Ghost. According to sources, the Rolls-Royce Wraith will be “the most powerful Rolls-Royce that has ever played host to the famous Spirit of Ecstasy figurine”.

Rumours making the rounds suspect that the new Rolls-Royce model will boast a V12 engine which is expected to produce in the region of 600bhp.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, discussed the choice of name for the new model. The Wraith name was first used by the Rolls-Royce brand in 1938 when we saw the production of the Silver Wraith that ceased to exist in 1959.

Mr Müller-Ötvös said: “Wraith alludes to an almost imperceptible but powerful force, something rare, agile and potent, a spirit that will not be tethered to the earth. It is the perfect name for our new model.”

The first Wraith cars will be delivered to customers at the end of the year.

The car maker, based in Goodwood in West Sussex, is owned by BMW. It has recently been in the news for its record sale of cars that rose from 1,002 in 2009 to 3.575 in 2012.

Jennifer Lopez gives the Rolls Royce Ghost her seal of approval

Actress and singer Jennifer Lopez appears to be a fan of the new Rolls Royce Ghost as the Latino star was seen recently arriving at a press conference in a chauffeur driven black version of the luxury saloon.

The 42-year-old music and movie star was accompanied by her new boyfriend, Casper Smart, as she arrived at the press conference in the back of a new Rolls Royce Ghost. The 7-Series stretch luxury car boasts a 6.6 litre twin turbo V12 engine and a raft of luxurious onboard features including sumptuous leather upholstery and metal trim for a sophisticated and high quality finish.

The international star emerged from her chauffeur driven Rolls Royce Ghost flanked by her chauffeur and security staff. Her arrival at the press conference certainly caused a stir as the star stepped out of the imposing blacked out Rolls Royce wearing a fitted illusion dress with the movie star looked completed by a pair of shades.

Most recently the mother of two was seen in TV adverts promoting the Fiat 500, however it seems that the star prefers a more stately mode of transportation when she’s travelling on business.

The new addition to JLo’s garage isn’t the first Rolls Royce the world famous star has owned as she was given a Rolls Royce Phantom back in 2004 as a gift from her former boyfriend, Hollywood actor Ben Affleck. However Jennifer gave the luxury motor back to her ex after the couple broke up a few months later.

Rolls Royce smashes sales records in 2011

Rolls Royce posted record breaking sales figures for the previous year this week, with demand for the luxury car maker’s flagship model, the Rolls Royce Phantom, and the Ghost, helping to drive sales throughout 2011.

In the official figures Rolls Royce revealed they’d sold 3,538 luxury cars over the course of 2011 which is the most it’s ever sold in the space of 12 months in the company’s entire 107 year history.

Rolls Royce found that China overtook America as its biggest market in 2011. Since 2003, the US has been the biggest consumer of Rolls Royce cars, however the Asian and Pacific market grew by a massive 47% throughout the 12 months of 2011, helping China into the top spot as the biggest buyers of Rolls Royce products for the year.

The UK rolled into third place behind China and the States as the biggest market for Rolls Royce in 2011, with business in Britain rising by 30% throughout the year for the luxury car brand.

Not ones to rest on their laurels, Rolls Royce are already hatching plans to build on the success of 2011 by branching into as yet untapped markets for the renowned car manufacturer, including South America, and also the development of new product lines and its dealer network, and there are also plans to expand the Rolls Royce manufacturing plant, Goodwood in Sussex.

Production at Rolls Royce plant in Chichester, the highest it’s ever been

The Rolls Royce production plant at Goodwood in Chichester has gone into overdrive in recent months and is now producing more vehicles per day than ever before.

Compared to the same period last year when the Chichester plant was producing just 4 or 5 cars a day, production has now tripled with the factory churning out 15 luxury vehicles a day on average, which is the highest rate it’s ever been since the plant opened in 2003.

However demand for the top of the range Rolls Royce vehicles such as the popular Ghost and Phantom models means that even if you were to place an order for one of these cars today, work wouldn’t begin on your vehicle until September due to a backlog of orders.

With so much care and attention being paid to each car during the production process, Rolls Royce takes 3 months to build one of its vehicles from start to finish.

At present the Goodwood plant has no immediate plans to hire more permanent staff members, although if production continues to be high over the coming months, Rolls Royce will look to employ more workers to join its 800 workforce at the facility.

The Rolls Royce Phantom and the Rolls Royce Ghost models continue to be two of the most desired luxury cars in the world.
