As you know, here at Cars for Stars, we love nothing more than high-profile cars; vehicles that tell an interesting story. This is why we were thrilled to learn that Muhammed Ali’s 1970s Rolls Royce was going up to auction; a car that is set to gather some real interest over the course of the coming weeks.
A rare classic that packs a real punch!
According to sources, the car will be auctioned by none other than Bonhams, set to go under the hammer this October. But, why is this car so special? Well, aside from being the vehicle of the boxing legend, the car is also incredibly rare. The vehicle is a 1970 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Mulliner Park Ward convertible; a car that we rarely get to see here at Cars for Stars.
Having been in the boxer’s possession for over 6 years, the car was not simply a trophy. Playing a part in the champ’s day-to-day life, the car boasts some real historical relevance that many collectors will want a slice of.
Bought in 1970, the year Ali was permitted to box again, many are dubbing it a celebratory purchase. Ali was a vocal objector during the Vietnam War; a stance that saw him serve a prison sentence and go down in history for his strong beliefs.
But, it is not just its celeb previous owner that makes this car special, it also boasts some pretty incredible features. Completely unrestored, the car is just one of 272 Silver Shadow Mulliner Park Wards ever made, sporting luxury interior and the classic walnut finish dashboard.
How much will the car be sold for?
This wonderful vehicle is expected to fetch anything between $47,000 and $70,000. But, what do you think? Considering you can buy a brand new Rolls Royce Ghost for less, is Ali’s old Rolls Royce really worth it?
