While more interested in the shiny, luxurious end of the limousine market we are always excited to hear of this unique limo stories, especially when they include James Bond fans. This is why were we very interested to learn of The Kirkthorpe Cavemen’s plans, a group of guys that are setting out on an extraordinary excursion all in the name of charity.

With a 1992 Vauxhall Carlton they bought for £400 as part of the convoy the ‘Bond Banger’ will take them to various Bond film locations, a sponsored journey that will give all of the donations to The Dogs Trust and My Burns Club.

The ex funeral limo will be an unlikely addition to the charity Fireball Rally next month. Joining the zany competition online the British guys are excited to be involved:

Mr Davany, 35, said: “One of the prizes is for ‘best banger and most unlikely car to make it round’. We dropped on this Vauxhall Carlton. It’s an ex funeral limousine and was used for funeral processions.

“It was made in 1992. It’s a banger. It was supposed to be £500 but the back window was missing, so the seller knocked £100 off. I think we’ve got ‘the best banger prize’ in the bag.”

The September 17-20 rally will show up at destinations associated with the world of James Bond, including France, Switzerland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany.

Mr Davany said: “I’m hoping we make it and don’t break down. We just want to raise a lot of money for two charities who so richly deserve it. We have quite a unique car which I’m sure many people think won’t make it, but that’s part of the fun.

“We have paid for everything ourselves so all donations will be going straight to our chosen charities, The Dogs Trust and My Burns Club, which is an organisation which provides invaluable support for children who suffered burns in the Yorkshire and Humberside area.”
