MGFor many couples their wedding is an event in which they reflect on for many years, looking back with fond memories of that special day.

With anniversaries there to provide further celebrations year on year, gifts are particularly important in remembering the vows taken.

Where many want to relive their wedding day on their anniversary the majority of us settle for a box of chocolates and some thoughtful words in a card.

Zoe Snell on the other hand went one step further, pulling out all the stops on her 40th wedding anniversary.

For many men the most exhilarating part of the wedding planning process is choosing the chauffeur cars, an incorporation that grooms relish in.

Zoe Snell of Dartford was desperate to locate the car that she and her husband travelled in on their big day.

She said: “My husband has always wondered what happened to the car, and has been desperately trying to track it down.”

With the help of Lise Alexander-Smith, an underwriting manager at Lancaster Insurance Zoe located the car, discovering that it was still residing in Britain.

She added: “It was really exciting covertly arranging it all and surprising him. We are so happy it has been in the same hands for such a long time, and without a doubt, respected and loved.

“I want to offer my thanks to Graham for making it all possible; it was lovely to see it again. We had a wonderful day.”

Graham Bird bought the MG Midget for his late wife in 1979 and restored it in 1986.

“It’s off the road and needs some work these days, which I’ll undertake as a retirement project.

“I was happy for Zoe to surprise Terry with it, as it’s given me so much pleasure over the years. It’s nice to meet a previous owner and be able to give something back. The car is very special to me.”

Richard Morley, operations director for Lancaster Insurance, said: “Zoe’s appeal really pulled at our heart strings, and we’re so happy to have been able to help.

“It’s great to see that the car has been dearly loved by Graham, and amazing to see the memories this little MG Midget still evokes in people years down the line.

“We’re delighted that Zoe and Terry enjoyed their day.”
