Like with any mystery car creation the industry slip into a state of frenzy, with many working hard to uncover details prior to manufactures release. Encouraging big brands such as BMW and Mercedes to tighten up sector to seems more efforts have to be made to keep such surprises under wraps.

This week BMW have felt the wrath of the online leak, with images and copies of patents for the new i5 showing up online. Completely giving away the design of the latest i car drawing have however gotten us excited, showing the i5 to  bridge gap between the i3 city car and amazing i8 sports car. As a mid-sized saloon  it certainly pays homage to its predecessors, featuring the low and wide headlight and kidney grille arrangement used on the i8 sports car. Drawings also unveil a sloping, aerodynamic roofline, combining great looks for eco0freindly technology.

In an interview with Car and Driver, BMW i division product chief Henrik Wender said:

“We are thinking of a new i model above the i3 to attract families and that means it must be capable of being the first car in the household”, before confirming that a range-extender option.

With the i5 seeming to fit the bill we at Cars for Stars believe it could serve many purposes, appearing to be practically sized and executively styled for chauffeur services.
