all-new-2010-bmw-z4-sketch_2Have you ever been torn over what car to buy, having your heart set on both a BMW and a Toyota? If so, you may be in luck!

We have been overhearing whispers in the industry of a Toyota-BMW coalition, rumours that have finally been confirmed to be true.

The two acclaimed car-makers are in the development stages of what they have codenamed ‘Silk Road 2’, an anticipated sports car project that is set to hit our roads in late 2018 or early 2019.

Although a long way from seeing these cars exhibited in showrooms we sure do know a lot about what this BMW-Toyota invention will encompass.

It is safe to say that we have great expectations for this new model, a vehicle that will boast a mid-engine model and combat the Porsche 911.

Making such bold claims we wonder if this joint enterprise will attract as many car enthusiasts as it hopes.

The car is set to spawn the BMW Z7 and Lexus ZC, being a prolific addition to both BMW’s and Toyota’s fleet of performance cars.

The car will showcase a twin-turbo 3.0-liter engine, a 150 bhp (111 kW) electric motor, a small battery pack and a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

This setup will reportedly enable the cars to have a combined output of 400-500 bhp (298-372 kW).

With so much going on under the bonnet the manufacturers have estimated that the car will weigh less than 1650 kg (3637 lbs) and cost approximately £55,000, a substantial sum of money for a mid-engine vehicle.

If you like the idea of purchasing such a car then let us know why. Alternatively, if you dislike the notion of driving the ‘Silk Road 2’ then share your opinions with us.
