Audi’s SUV design is set to be the headline concept in the 2017 Shanghai motor show. It seems crossovers are the newest craze.

The car reportedly reaches 310 miles on just one charge, and reach 62mph in less than 5 seconds. Pretty impressive eh?

Audi boss Rupert Stadler has said, “Our [first] Audi e-tron will be starting out in 2018 – the first electric car in its competitive field that is fit for everyday use.”

Audi have revealed that new motor will go up against the Jaguar I-Pace in the show, which is set to be on the market roughly the same time. It will also come face-to-face with the Porsche Cayman which also offers a 300-mile-plus range. Stadler’s statement however could be seen as a dig towards Audi’s healthy competitor Telsa, whom have already released the Model S and X.

Stadler has also stated that the new e-tron Sportsback will be the “product of the next decade”.

Audi have focussed its advertising on its design’s most impressive feature, its lighting tech. It will include roughly 500 digitally controlled LEDs, which Audi states as something much more spectacular and impressive than just ordinary headlights.

The Sportsback will also include plenty of power. This is down to its two rear-mounted motors, not forgetting the one that it has up front.

Additionally, the fact that the motor will be launched in China is not a coincidence. Over the next five years the company intend to release approximately 5 hybrid models to the Chinese market.

However, the concept is predicted to go down well with British buyers as well. Would you go for this incredibly impressive model over its rival counterparts by Jaguar and Telsa?
